After a visit to the Ivory Museum in Erbach, if you still have some time and energy left for a brief walk through a historical old town, this one-hour guided tour around the centre of the historical town hall with its lovely cafés and restaurants is a very good idea.
Town church, city hall and market fountain, Alte Hof-Apotheke, Schwiegermütterbrunnen (mother-in-law fountain), synagogue, Michelstadt castle, Diebsturm − there's something for everyone.
An absolute must at the end of this one-day or half-day tour is the sidetrip to the Einhard basilica in Michelstadt-Steinbach. There you can book a tour of approx. 30 minutes guided by the nice lady from the cash-office at the basilica front garden - but this is not obligatory.
Only a stone's throw away is the Fürstenau water castle founded around 1300. You will immediately have the feeling that you have travelled into a long-past era.
Suitable for all ages between 10−99
It will take around 1 hour to get there from Heidelberg (ca. 60 km)
The tour is suitable for wheelchair users.
