Senckenberg-Museum Frankfurt

Guided tours from various perspectives are meant to inspire children between 6 and 14 years and wake their interest for the diversity of the offers and contents.

It is the purpose of the museum to describe, understand and preserve the variety of life (biodiversity). The museum focuses its research activities on systematics, ecology, biogeography and environmental protection. With more than 6000 sqm exhibition space it is among the largest in Europe.

Subjects: evolutionary history of the earth and of life, fossils from the word-famous Messel pit, dinosaurs − giants from prehistoric times, fossils of fish and reptiles, history of human evolution with newly equipped showcases, whales and elephants, amphibians, anthropoid apes, birds, evolution of bird species, plant species, insects, crustaceans, corals and their environment, fish, spiders and their areas of living and origin.

An open-air exhibition in the newly designed outer area is a good starting point for a visit to the museum. At 7 positions, the exhibits give typical examples for life in the various eras and ages − from the Archean Age to the Cenozoic.
